APRIL 2, 2019 – HAMBURG, Gerrmany  AirFi, the aviation industry’s leading provider of portable Wireless In-Flight Entertainment systems and cabin retail technology and Lion Air Group, Indonesia’s largest airline and second largest Southeast Asian airline by fleet size, today announced they have signed a binding agreement to equip the entire group’s narrow- and wide-body aircraft and for all new aircraft deliveries.

Lion Air Group becomes the largest AirFi Wireless IFE customer by fleet size, the deal further underlining the capability of AirFi to meet the needs of the largest and most complex fleet operators.

“This is truly a landmark moment for AirFi.” comments Satish Mahtani, MD AirFi Indonesia. “It is a tremendous endorsement from Lion Air Group to put AirFi at the heart of the onboard digital passenger experience at one of world’s biggest carriers. Within our first year of operation, AirFi Indonesia has captured the majority of its home market. A clear signal that customers trust the quality and delivery of AirFi’s product and supporting systems and services.” continues Mahtani.

Within the rapid growth forecasts across the Asia-Pacific region as a whole, Indonesia is a stand-out market. IATA forecast the country will rise from 10th largest today to the world’s No.4 by 2030 with over 400 million passengers annually.

“We first put down our roots in Asia over four years ago and now have our technology, operations and customer-facing teams established across five countries – most recently with the launch of our new regional HQ in Singapore. We rolled out AirFi Autonomous Operations technology last year, to radically simplify daily logistics and reduce costs and make AirFi a highly viable mainstream IFE option for larger fleets. I’m delighted that AirFi Indonesia and Lion Air will now begin the next stage in this journey together to deploy a highly engaging, operationally efficient and financially successful solution to serve tens of millions more passengers throughout Asia.” adds Martijn Moret, AirFi Co-Founder, EVP Commercial for Asia Pacific and Middle East.
